Scarecrow: A Plant Protection Drone

Revolutionizing Plant Protection with Innovative Design

So far, the food famine caused by the locust plague has been a problem that people all over the world are suffering. The source of the overall design of the Scarecrow is the abstract simplification of the organic form of the branches, and the fuselage and bracket adopt an integrated streamline form.

The Scarecrow, designed by Guangpeng Yue, is a groundbreaking plant protection drone that aims to combat the global issue of food scarcity caused by locust plagues. Inspired by the organic form of branches, the Scarecrow features a streamlined fuselage and bracket, creating a visually striking and functional design.

What sets the Scarecrow apart from other plant protection drones is its unique properties and strengths. The drone is equipped with program control, allowing it to autonomously carry out plant protection operations and return to its base. Additionally, the Scarecrow harnesses wind energy through its own rotor, enabling self-charging and reducing reliance on external power sources. With an 8-axis redundant design and adaptive power protection algorithm, the drone ensures safe flight even in the event of a failure in one axis.

One of the key features of the Scarecrow is its sound system, which disperses birds around farmland by playing bird screams. This innovative approach protects crops while minimizing harm to birds, promoting a harmonious coexistence between agriculture and nature. The Scarecrow also incorporates advanced technologies such as pesticide spraying control and utilizes high-quality materials like carbon fiber and titanium alloy for durability and performance.

The Scarecrow's specifications include a length of 1200 mm, a width of 400 mm, and a diameter of 343 mm for each shaft. These dimensions ensure optimal maneuverability and efficiency during plant protection operations.

Designed by Guangpeng Yue and his team, the Scarecrow represents a significant advancement in plant protection technology. The project commenced in September 2020 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, and was completed in December 2020. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to develop the drone's 8-axis redundant design and adaptive power protection algorithm, ensuring its reliability and safety.

The Scarecrow has received recognition for its innovative design and practicality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Agricultural Tools, Farming Equipment, and Machinery Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges the Scarecrow's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.

The Scarecrow not only addresses the pressing issue of food scarcity but also embodies the harmony between humans and nature. By harnessing wind energy and utilizing a sound system to protect farmland, this plant protection drone showcases the potential for sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices.
